R. C. HOFFMAN, M. D., of the firm of D. A. Hoffman & Son, of Oskaloosa, was born in Hocking County, Ohio, Nov. 12, 1860. He came with his parents to this county when about one year old and commenced reading medicine in his father's office when a boy of nineteen. His literary education was received at Penn College, Oskaloosa. In the years 1880Ä83, he attended Jefferson Medical College, where he graduated with high honors in the class of 1888. After graduation he formed a partnership with his father, who is one of the leading physicians of the county, and he since been actively engaged in the practice of medicine and surgery. The Doctor is one of the leading surgeons of Central and Southern Iowa, and is frequently called long distances for consultation and the performance of difficult and dangerous sur- gical operations. Dr. Hoffman is a member of the American Medical Association of the State of Iowa, and Secretary of the Des Moines Valley Medical Society, and has been elected to an honorary membership in the Jas- per County Medical Society, He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and a Knight Templar, also a member of the uniform rank of Knights of Pythias. The Doctor is an enthusiastic yet thorough student, a close observer, and a young man of more than ordinary ability, and possessing these elements is fast rising to the top round in his profession.
