DANIEL S. PRINE is a native of Kentucky, and was born in Fleming County, Aug. 23, 1816, his parents being Matthew and Elizabeth Prine. Our subject is numbered among the earliest settlers ot Mahaska County, arriving here in 1846, and entering a claim on section 34 of Garfield Township. He was married, Oct. 15, 1837, to Nancy A. Thrasher, a native of Pendleton County, Ky. Of their children seven lived to mature age: William H., now living in Madison Township; Mary Jane, now the wife of George Corwin, of Des Moines; Miles M., now living in Garfield Township; Hattie, who married Charles Rodgers, and died in 1879; Elizabeth P., wife of Jacob Himes, of Adams County; Caroline, wife of Samuel Lathrop; Paulina, wife of Jacob Turner, of Oskaloosa. Mrs. Prine died April 18, 1886, aged seventy years and one week. She was a member of the Christian Church, of which body Mr. Wine is also a member. In politics he is a Greenbacker. With the other pioneers who yet remain, Mr. Prine has witnessed many changes in the forty years of his life in Mahaska County.
